Neuro-Tonal Chiropractic
At Precision Chiropractic, we focus on a unique approach known as Neuro-Tonal Correction. Unlike traditional Chiropractic, Neuro-Tonal Correction focuses on the tone/tension of the spinal cord/nervous system, specifically as it relates to the structure of the spine and its connective tissues (muscles, ligaments, etc).
To better understand this, consider a guitar string. A guitar string directly attaches to the very top and bottom of a guitar, and can only be tuned from these locations. Similarly, the spinal cord directly attaches to the very top and the very bottom of the spine, and the amount of tone, or tension, in it is primarily affected by these spinal regions.
When a guitar is out of tune, due to an improper amount of tension in the strings, the sound created is abnormal and undesirable. If the spinal cord and/or spinal nerves have the improper amount of tension or tone, this disrupts the ability of the brain and body to function normally, leading to many possible Secondary Conditions.
The goal of Neuro-Tonal Correction is to address the underlying cause of abnormal tone and tension in the spinal cord and nerves, and to address specific structures of the spine. This abnormal shift in tone and structure is known as Tonal Shift.
Unlike most healthcare providers – whose focus is to decrease symptoms and restore you to where you were just before you sought help- the purpose of Neuro-Tonal Correction is to address the underlying issue(s) so your brain and body are able to adapt and reorganize, allowing your body to function at its best.
Functional Nutrition
The functional nutrition model is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.
With functional nutrition, symptoms are seen as clues for diagnosing your primary health problems, whether they are related to diet, illnesses, medications, lifestyle factors, exposure to toxins, antibiotic use, or other factors.
While standard healthcare will try to suppress these symptoms with medication, functional nutrition instead sees them as clues for understanding the underlying issues within your body. By considering the impacts of seemingly unrelated factors on your health, our doctors will put together a holistic health plan that takes every aspect of your health into consideration.
For these reasons, functional nutrition is never one-size-fits-all. Instead, it is a highly customized holistic health perspective that takes your unique specifications into account to trigger healing from the cellular level. Functional nutrition determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease.
Primitive Reflex Integration
Reflexes are automatic movements that happen without conscious thought. Reflexes help us to survive, search for food (rooting and sucking reflex), protection (moro), avoid danger (grasping from falling), to walk (stepping reflex). Primitive reflexes are the neurological building blocks of learned skills and motor development, coordination skills, cognitive skills and behavior patterns. Each reflex has an associated sensory stimulation and corresponding pattern of movements that can be integrated or unintegrated.
Integrated reflexes are important for developing motor control. A child needs motor control to maintain proper posture at a desk in school, ride a bike, read a book, cross midline, write, and get dressed. A child with integrated reflexes has normal movement patterns to complete these functional tasks at home and at school. A child with unintegrated reflexes could benefit from skilled reflex integration therapy which will essentially train a child’s brain by establishing an efficient movement pattern that supports higher level motor skills or cognitive tasks.
